BRINGING BABY HOME!

As much joy as a new baby brings to parents, the addition of a child is also one of the most stressful things that can happen to a couple’s relationship. In fact, 69% of new parents report increased conflict and disappointment in their partner relationship after the birth of their baby!

Are you answering “yes” to these questions?

  • Are you nervous about what a new baby will do to your marriage?

  • Are you concerned about how you will feel after the baby is born?

  • Are you finding it hard to stay connected with your partner?

  • Do you feel unsure about how to foster connectedness with your infant?

  • Are you unsure about how to best co-parent?

  • Are you feeling scared, overwhelmed or unsure about your pending or new arrival?

  • Is the stress straining your marriage?

The Bringing Baby Home workshop is designed for expectant and new parents to develop skills and techniques that will help ease the transition that comes with the addition of a baby to the family. The 2-day Bringing Baby Home Workshop addresses many of the common concerns and experiences of new parents. Through a series of dynamic short presentations, exercises, video clips and facilitated group discussion the workshop provides research based information and guidance to help couples begin to navigate the challenges of transitioning to parenthood. Bringing Baby Home was developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman; leading experts in the fields of marriage and early parenting. Unlike many other programs, Bringing Baby Home is based on best practices supported by research findings and has been shown to increase the chances that a couple will successfully navigate this stressful period in their relationship.

Couples who participate in a Bringing Baby Home workshop can expect to learn:

  • How to remain better connected to each other emotionally through the transition to parenthood

  • The importance of co-parenting

  • Strategies for managing conflict

  • What the research says about behaviors that are best avoided to ensure a continued strong and thriving relationship.

This workshop can be taken during pregnancy or with your newborn (before crawling) baby. We will be meeting at Java Mama, an inviting, family friendly center where coffee and food are available for purchase throughout the workshop.
